In considering what freedom looks like today, I realize that everyone has a different perspective based on their own experience. I am a student athlete and most of the people around me are athletes. I have the privilege of getting an education and playing sports. These are the experiences I had that helped me shape my definition of freedom.

There was one day in the summer going into middle school when I asked myself what I was going to do because I wasn’t playing any sports; all I did was play on playgrounds. One day I end up at my cousin’s house and he asked me, “Do you want to go to the park?” And I said, “Sure.” So when we went to the park I saw him go to the court, and he just started shooting around. I joined him, and he taught me how to shoot. This experience helped shape my opinion about freedom. Based on this experience I am saying that freedom is making decisions for yourself, choosing to do things that you’re passionate about.
