To me freedom is a state of mind, meaning that people are only free when they themselves determine it so. This is personal to be because it means that only you can decide when you’re free and no one else. Growing up a black woman and listening to activists like Dick Gregory have shaped my opinion on the issue. My piece reflects what I care about because it shows that everyone gets their own choice of what freedom means to them. Freedom is whatever you make it and not what anybody else tells you it is.
